What's a trip to the Zoo without skipping alongisde the flamingos, a few Lion King references and naming all the monkeys after your closest friends? A pretty bad trip, I'd say.
Enjoy my photographic thoughts on Edinburgh Zoo and the animals within it.
Meet Grant, my date (dat title reference). He loves to smile for the camera.
Insta-worthy, am I right?
The Zoo may seem a little pricey, but if you happen to know someone who is a member (a.k.a me!) and visit with them, you will be able to get in with member's guest discount! Check out their website for more details. For ticket prices, including member guest discount, just click here.
Have you been to the Zoo recently? Any favourite animals? I personally adopt the Kune Kune pigs with my big sister Helen so look out for our names on the sign!
Until next time,

A Fun Date with Edinburgh Zoo

As you may already know I have a fantastic skill for losing makeup products on a very regular basis. So, when I lost my Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer I went straight out to buy another one! I then found my original afterwards - oops...
Luckily for me, Boots had (and still has!) a deal to get a free Collection Supersize Fat Lash Mascara when you spend £5 or more on Collection products! Retailing for £2.99 it's not that big a save but who can resist an offer on mascara (not me)?!
It promises to be a "super volumising mascara for big, bold lashes" and the packaging is pink - everything is looking good so far...
Ohhh and it's a bristle brush. Disappointed. I much prefer plastic wands because they separate my lashes and I find it easier to make less of a mess with them! I bought the shade Ultra Black however you can also buy Brown/Black and Black.
I applied two coats without curling my eyelashes beforehand. The formula is fairly wet which caused quite a bit of smudging during application on my bottom lashes.
The mascara definitely defines, lengthens and does add volume. However, the thick brush doesn't separate my eyelashes which is what I aim for with mascara.
I definitely wouldn't recommend using Supersize on your bottom lashes (look at that smudging!) however for the top it certainly does a good job. I didn't experience any further smudging throughout the day which is a big plus. Not the best I've used but for just £2.99 I would definitely repurchase.
Next time I plan to first apply my trusty SEVENTEEN Doll'd Up mascara (£6.29) to separate my lashes and then apply Collection's Supersize Fat Lash for maximum volume and definition!
Do you prefer bristle or plastic mascara wands? Any good mascara recommendations? I want to try moooore!

Collection Supersize Fat Lash Mascara Review

Imagine you are a food-loving Edinburgh girl turning twenty. Where do you go for your birthday meal? Why, Twenty on Princes Street of course!
Described by themselves as having a "wondrously elegant and stunning setting" featuring a "seamless mix of traditional elegance and contemporary design", I was very excited to visit such a glamorous and formal restaurant. And if you enjoy adjectives as much as I do, I recommend reading the rest of their About Us page.

The delicious food was, of course, the highlight of the evening.
It may not be the cheapest restaurant but you definitely get what you pay for. Also, I do know they have a terrific offer for two main meals and two drinks all for £20 - available Monday to Friday, 12 to 6pm. How spiffing!
Click here to view all their special offers currently available. I would love to try out "A Very Unusual Afternoon Tea" - what do you fancy?

After our meal, we decided to head to the restaurant's sister cocktail bar, Juniper. My sister highly recommends the cocktails - my ginger ale was nice too. What intrigued me more, however, was the beautiful decor in the secluded area known as the "library". Feast your eyes on this inspiring interior!
Gah I fell in love with this interior at first sight and now I'm bursting with creative ideas on how to redecorate my bedroom. If you are in Edinburgh, you should try out the restaurant and/or bar - I'd love to know what you think!
One of my favourite parts is the eclectic mix of furniture - what's yours?

I love scrolling through all the beautiful hairstyles on Pinterest and Instagram, but I strongly dislike the fact that I can't do any of them. Like, any. At all. My hair and I have an extremely temperamental love-hate relationship.
Luckily, my friend, Emily, is quite the expert on hair-related matters and offered to show me how she gets maximum volume using her BaByliss Boutique Deep Waves Styler (2447U).

Oh my gosh it's time for a tutorial!!

What You Need:

*Thanks to Emily for writing up the steps :)*
1. Section hair into thin layers - not thin enough that it takes you
a decade to get all your hair done, but thin enough so all hair gets waved.

2. Place a section of hair into thirds; one over right shoulder, one over back and one over left shoulder. This will make it easier to know which parts have been waved and which haven't.

3. With the wavers in your strongest hand, press onto the hair tightly and hold for 5-10 seconds. You should

personally be able to estimate how long each piece of hair should be affected by heat.

4. Move the wavers down the hair; the hair can be hot once just waved - be careful!

5. Once a section is complete, drop the next section on top of the finished one. This gives you a chance to build up the layers and 'boomf' the hair up.

6. Catch any extra strands of hair that you spot that haven't been waved and wave them; this will add more volume to the hair and also make it look nicer once finished.

7. Spray each section with hairspray (we used Fudge Urban's Iced Raspberry & Vanilla Hairspray), spraying upwards to affect the waves in the lower sections.

8. Once finished, decide if you want hair/bangs to be pinned back and add hairspray to that section in order to keep it in place.

9. Spray all over with Mark Hill Holiday Hair Sun, Sea Frizz-Free Anti-Humidity Spray to allow the waves to last longer in all weathers and overnight.

Aaaaaaaaand you're done!

Big thanks to Emily for demonstrating her technique - go follow her on Instagram to see more of her lovely hair and face! Also thanks to Stephanie for being a fabulous camera woman!

Part 2 of our girls' night in will include pictures of Stephanie's beautiful uber-long hair! It was a dream to have so much hair to play with!
